Played regularly against Nigel Winterburn in a vets 7 aside league. he was defensively brilliant!
Michael Duberry in various Dads 5 asides at our local kids footy club - Lovely bloke and a good mate.

Noble & Charlie Sheringham. I'm sure there have been a couple more but can't remember. Jermain Defoe used to have a kick abouts with some of my pals in Woodcock's area just off of Tollgate Road.

Paul Merson in our vets team a few years back.
He didn't move much (apart from the club house bar) but still sprayed the ball about. Quality.

Harry Maguire, he kept on trying to drive with the ball and shoot from 35 yards out, he was useless at it. As he was massive he was very hard to get around

Anyone remember way back - the town show in Central park, must have been very early 70's
After a youth cup final the winners got to play against the pro's
Bobby Moore, Hurst, Mullery and a host of our then first team and others turned up in regular clothes and played - funny thing was that a kid kept skinning Mullery (a proper cunt) who then kicked him up in the air. The kid was a 'brother' and his many pals took exception, Sir Bob calmed it all down

Macoumba Kandji in 7 a side who no one on here will ever have heard of but the only pro I've played against.
An incredibly humbling experience that very clearly contextualized the line between amateur and pro for me.

I played in the same team as ex-Watford player Gifton Noel-Williams in a charity match over Hackney Marshes. I don't think he moved more than 5 yards during the whole match, albeit he passed me the ball once (he obviously hadn't seen me play before...)

Dont remember playing against anyone for my old Sunday team played with a few ex pros we had a very good team. Mark Flatts who played about 10-15 games for Arsenal Sparrow (Paul Moran ) who was pretty pony tbh plyead a lot for Spuds also had Steve Morrison who was about 17/18 we actually used to stick in goal half the time cos he wasn’t really good enough to play on pitch tells you how good the team was this was before he went to Stevenage. One other lad went on to be the captain of Barnet but I can’t remember his name. Biggest name that played for us but not very regularly was Steve Sedgley.
When we played in the McAvennie tournament at Upton Park we got a couple of injuries and only had 10 men for a game so Frank played for us what a great day that was.
Went on holiday to Greece and there was a 5 a side game every day which I did not fancy one but until I realised Pottsy and his kids were playing every day Freddie was about 12 at that point he literally sent me for a Kebab in the next village with a step over

Back in the early nineties I played in a 6-a-side against Rainer Bonhof and Frank Arnesen in Marbella.
Bonhof was about 40 but solid as a rock, Arneson, in his mid thirties, was absolute mustard.
We didn’t do very well, I blamed the heat!

I marked Malcolm Musgrove in a match in Torquay. He was twice my age.
Morpheus mentioned playing 5 a side with Alan Comfort. Me too for a few years. A very young Carl Jenkinson also made a few appearances in that.

Played in a charity match in 2014.
Phil Neal, Alan Kennedy, Simon Grayson, John Wark, Gary Parker and Clayton Blackmore all played.
As did David Speedie, he was pissed on arrival, and at the pre match handshakes pulled our keeper towards him and said "stay on your line mate, otherwise I will chip you".
Into the second half he had the ball outside the area, looked up and did it. After the game in the bar, he walked up to him and said "what did I fucking tell you".
Despite their age the ex pros made up for their lack of fitness with their ability to know where to be and passed us to death.
